Life reminds you that no matter what we do, we aren’t truly in control.  Live your life to the fullest.  Do what you enjoy, love to the fullest, and never carry any regrets with you.  Take risks in life, put someone else first every once and a while, and always take time to notice the little details.

Life is ever fleeting, we should all be so lucky to truly love life, all the people our paths cross, and to have it end with no regrets.

I would like to thank everyone for virtually coming out to support my blogging efforts on Soapbox Media last week.  It has been suggested that CSL should have a blog.  Great idea in concept, but having Bwebb writing about his inability to get a date would just get plain boring after awhile.  (Low blow Bwebb, but I figured you would appreciate it.)  So that leaves me, which is totally cool, other than the fact that I don’t think I’m disciplined enough to keep up with a personal and professional blog.  The interesting part of this is that I think there are enough tools out there that could actually keep up with the workload, still my own lack of discipline could hinder the efforts!  More on this next week.

In other news (work related) I have an interesting meeting in Louisville Monday.  Road Trip!  Meeting a guy from Nashville to discuss business and see if there are any synergies.  I’m actually kind of excited, it’s usually these types of meetings that have opened doors in the past.  We’ll see what develops.

On the home front, Kim and I are heading back to the scene of the crime.  Yes the Hilton downtown Cincinnati.  The place where the Schultes danced like true white folks, Joff rolled up his pant legs and acted the fool, and the place where Garde almost was arrested on several occasions.  We are very excited to be heading back there for the Valentine’s weekend and our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY.  In addition we have dinner planned at McCormick and Schmick’s Saturday night.  We might hit the Havana Martini Club afterwards for cocktails, who knows.  Sunday morning will begin with breakfast in bed, a late check out and eventually a trip back to the casa.

Sounds like the perfect ending to a long work week!

Please do not tag me in any of the ‘25 Random Things’ surveys floating around Facebook.  Here’s why.

I don’t have the mental ability to half ass surveys for some reason.  I can’t just phone it in, and give you cute little cuddly things about me that might not know.  If I get tagged, you’re gonna get the dirt.  You are gonna get the 25 BIGGEST things that you don’t know about me.  My fear is that the people that follow me around on Facebook, (some of which aren’t true friends), might have a different view of me after reading whatever I might write.

At this point I have survived the ‘25′ tagging, nor at this time have I even decided what 25 things you might learn about me.  But trust me, unless you really want your brain fried, you DON’T want to tag me.

Apparently I hit a rut, and didn’t quite realize it.  Either that or early on-set Alzheimer’s kicked in, and I forgot I had a blog.  In all honesty, I have about 20+ posts ready to be written, I just haven’t gotten around to it.  I could feed you a bunch of crap about work being crazy, the wife running me ragged, but in all reality, it’s winter, and I’m not motivated.  Editors Note: (As I attempt to write this mea culea, I have told myself that I can’t eat my freshly ordered Angilo’s Pizza, until I finish this post!)

In an effort to re-motivate myself, I changed the blog title, tag and overall theme.  I applied this tactic to my room in college, apartment post college, as well as my office whenever I was feeling unmotivated in any aspect of my life.  My goal is to freshen this place up no less than twice a week.  I’m counting on you guys to keep me accountable.  You’ll have to wait and see if this works.

In an effort to be efficient in my ramblings, I’m attempting to review the last 3 movies I’ve scene ‘Twitter’ style, basically in 140 characters or less.

Gran Torino- Typical Eastwood. Angry, Badass, Old! Should have been titled, ‘1001 ways to insult imigrants!’ A little after school special-y. 3 thumbs

Taken- Liam Niesen is NOT Jason Bourne.  Plot thin, good story, too linear. Drugs, Guns, & Prostitutes are a good way to kill 2 hours! 3.5 thumbs

Paul Blart- BEST MOVIE EVER PERIOD!  Should sweep Oscars!  Words cannot describe how good this movie is. 1000 thumbs up! /sarcasm

I generally don’t watch dram series TV, but Criminal Minds is one of my few guilty pleasures.  It’s dark, makes you think, and generally sheds a bright light on the darker side of humanity.  The side you know exists, but that you don’t let your mind internalize in fear of never being able to get a good nights sleep again.  The main characters are all very well developed, and the bad guys are usually very easily forgettable.  Yesterdays episode was one of the more memorable ones I’ve seen in a while. George Costanza (Jason Alexander) played the bad guy.  My initial reaction was, George can’t keep a girlfriend, let alone a job, how can he possibly foil the FBI’s BAU?

I watched the hour episode rather intently, and generally don’t get sucked into the emotional aspect that writers tempt you with in most dramas.  I admit it, I got sucked in last night, which is why the last five minutes of the show provided me with the best viewing experience I have ever had in a show.

As soon as the full episode is put up on-line I’ll link it.  CBS has half the clip I was jacked up about put up on-line, but it is completely out of context since you don’t have emotional attachment to the characters involved.

I’ve always felt that the addage; ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ fit me very well. Let’s face it; a non-athlete communications major, seriously? It’s not like I majored in something intensive, communications is the catch all for the students that really don’t know which direction they want to go post college. Accounting majors count stuff for a living, engineering majors, build shit, and physics majors shoot things in and out of the sky. Communications majors….well, mmmm, errr…talk? Which in my twisted, circular logic, brings to me the point of this post. Is success A.) Predetermined B.) Earned through hard work C.) Luck of the draw, or D.) All of the above? I had this article forwarded to me through my twitter account (shameless ‘add’ plug). It was originally posted to the UK’s Guardian website, written by Malcolm Gladwell, check out his article on his take on talented and successful people.

Ate Chinese last week with Kim, it was my go to restaurant for the better portion of 2008, but back to back bad General Tsao’s had cooled my desire for Young’s Kitchen. Needless to say the MSG craving came calling, and I found myself ordering Kim’s chicken and broccoli, and my General Tsao’s. It was redemption time and Young’s Kitchen had to step up to the plate. True to memory from meals past, the General was in rare form, and delivered completely. After finishing our feast it was time for the fortune cookies. Generally I end up with fortunes like, ‘You have a good heart’ or ‘you like to travel’, very general nondescript statements as opposed to actual foresight into your future. I think last week I hit the jackpot of fortunes; ‘You shall become a great community leader’. Holy shit! Not only does actually reek of being a legit fortune, but it succeeded in ratcheting up the pressure on my professional career. Can’t complain though, it could have been ‘you be the village idiot’!

Work has been crazy, between the general business of payroll, bill paying, marketing, content development, managing HR situations, accounting, design, development, meetings, staffing, budgeting, adding strategic partners, more meetings, and breathing, I’ve found myself delving into my iPod, to stay focused throughout the day. With the high usage time be logged on my iPod (actually my iPhone), I’ve been finding my 5K plus library of music a little monotonous the past two weeks. This has sent me on a hunt during the evenings for albums tolerable from start to finish. This has always been my watermark for what would be considered a good album. Playability. Can you start on track one, and let it roll uninterrupted until conclusion. My search has led me to the far reaches of the music spectrum, from Q-Tip to Social Distortion to Howie Day (pretentious little bastard).

This week I’ve settled into a little folksy funk, listening to a lot of Margot and the Nuclear So & So’s and Ray Montagne. Both of which are completely unique sounds in the their own rights. I would highly recommend all albums from either artisit. Also, check out Margot and the Nuclear So & So’s video for Tall as Cliffs here. Too funny not to mention.

The funny thing about both of those artists is that they were referenced in the Genuis bar inside iTunes, based on some of the artists already in my library. I thought it was pretty cool that I actually enjoyed suggestions made by a program. Technology! Cool! wOOt!

When I found Margot, that actually lead back to the other end of spectrum in terms of more Poppy Punk sounds. Check out Dear in Head Lights as well as Weatherbox. Weatherbox is by far the more polished of the two, a San Diego band with a unique harder sound, but very digest-able riffs and hooks in pretty much every song. Sorry no home page, but if you still check them out at there label here.

Enough about the music, a quick business leak. We have some really cool shit in the pipe, so to speak for 2009. We really are going to shift the focus to the event side of what we do. There is a huge need in most markets for what we are developing, and I am truly excited about what we are working on. With that being said, I’ll be leaning on all of you for a little help and support in the early stages. From Emailing your friends, to re-post on Facebook, ect, all of that stuff when the time is right would be of huge benefit and support, so be sure to check back here from time to time, and I’ll keep leaking stuff as we get it going. Trust me it’s going to be HUGE!
